Whirling Dervishes Chess Set

Inspired by Pre-Islamic mythical figures and cultural artefacts of the remote parts of Eastern Afghanistan, each piece is hand-carved and hand-painted to form the most individual chess set you could own. The twisting body of each figure is carefully carved to evoke the Sufi dance of whirling dervishes, thus converting your game of chess into a dance. The board and box are hand-carved and covered with individual hand-painted blocks, which with their Escher like effect add to the uniqueness of this work of art. Perfect for the art collectors and chess lovers, it is a conversation and display piece that adds the fun to this functional artwork.
